Jack Hendry is better suited to serve for the second time in Scotland after the tip of the “best strikers” of the Belgian Professional League.
The 25-year-old midfielder has been called up for the first time after playing three international matches in 2018.
Hendry helped Ostende to fourth place while taking a loan from Celtic.
“I think I’ve grown up in the last six months or so in Belgium,” he said. “I feel like a better player, on the pitch and a better person.”
Hendry has played only four times for Celtic after securing his third international game against Portugal following a lone injury at Melbourne City.
However, it blossomed into 24 appearances, but all started, for Ostend.
“The most important thing for me is that I will participate with confidence in this team with the games under my belt,” he said. “Probably not the last time I played this game.”
“You learn a lot through sports. I am ready, fully fit and with some good teams with Ostenda and with great confidence after the singles. ‘
Henry joined the 15th-ranked squad last season, but a 1–0 win against Axel Muskron on Saturday put him ahead of Anderlech by a margin of one third goal.
“I think we got the third best defense in Belgium,” he said. “For this team, it is a big achievement.
“In Belgium, if you look at the league, there are some of the best teams and even the teams you don’t know, they don’t have good players. This is what you want a defender to achieve in your game: face the best forward for an entire week and I feel like I do it in Belgium “”.
With the lack of center-right defenders in their final squads in Scotland, Hendry feel ready to face Austria as Steve Clarke at Hampden Park prepares to kick off the World Cup qualifying campaign on Thursday.
He said: “Playing against international strikers, it can be useful to join a team where I was playing at this level and I think I can play at this level and move on.”
“I think I’ve competed very well and against the forefront, and if anyone watches those games, they can see how I can be a good defender.”
