The Queen addresses the World Climate Conference
The Queen spoke with a video message at the 26th United Nations World Climate Conference in Glasgow, Scotland. He called on the heads of government to think about future generations in the fight against climate change. In his address, he called upon the participants of the conference to work together to “solve the most insurmountable problems”. The 95-year-old explained: “None of us will last forever.” And further: “We do this not for ourselves, but for our children, our children’s children, and those who come after them.”
The Queen also remembered her husband, Prince Philip, who died a few months ago and who warned decades ago about the dangers of climate change. He is particularly pleased that his son Charles and his grandson William are also committed to environmental issues and said of them: “I couldn’t be more proud of them.” She did not mention her grandson Harry, although she did comment on the subject repeatedly.
