As Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, announced their resignations from service for the British monarchy as “senior royals”, a real earthen battle has broken out. The duo’s television appearance with American talk queen Oprah Winfrey is considered one of the highlights of the media drama. The Queen spoke in a personal statement and responded to the allegations the couple expressed in an interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Now Queen Elizabeth herself has recently made unwanted headlines. According to the information received from the palace, it should be reduced in future. Her private secretary Sir Edward Young has been internally criticized for the “ruthlessly” tight timing of the Queen’s appointments. Recently, the British head of state even spent a night in the hospital.

You can find out what’s still going on with the royals in our news blog. You can check out our previous blog about the royal family here.

The Queen addresses the World Climate Conference

The Queen spoke with a video message at the 26th United Nations World Climate Conference in Glasgow, Scotland. He called on the heads of government to think about future generations in the fight against climate change. In his address, he called upon the participants of the conference to work together to “solve the most insurmountable problems”. The 95-year-old explained: “None of us will last forever.” And further: “We do this not for ourselves, but for our children, our children’s children, and those who come after them.”

The Queen also remembered her husband, Prince Philip, who died a few months ago and who warned decades ago about the dangers of climate change. He is particularly pleased that his son Charles and his grandson William are also committed to environmental issues and said of them: “I couldn’t be more proud of them.” She did not mention her grandson Harry, although she did comment on the subject repeatedly.

It was originally planned that the Queen would visit Glasgow in person, but due to her health problems in recent weeks, she stayed at Windsor Castle on the advice of her doctors.

Instead of the Queen, Charles and Camilla as well as William and Kate traveled to Glasgow to represent the royal family. Official photos on the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s Instagram channel show the royal couple in conversation with Angela Merkel, US President Joe Biden and Canada’s prime minister. Justin Trudeau.
