Stonehaven – According to the British Transport Police, three people were killed in a train accident in Scotland. The train derailed on Wednesday morning after heavy rains near the town of Stonehaven in the northeast of the country. He was on his way to Glasgow from Aberdeen. Train drivers are said to be among the dead. Six people were taken to the hospital when they were moderately injured. An even bigger tragedy was probably averted only because the train had few passengers.
Police initially did not provide any information about the cause. A police spokesman announced a thorough investigation. According to media reports, landslides can cause accidents due to heavy rains. Prime Minister Boris Johnson told Sky News that the rain has undoubtedly exacerbated the problem. According to the British news agency PA, the locomotive slipped on the embankment with three of its four wagons. Counterclockwise and partially parked wagons can be seen on television photographs. The first smoke rose from the accident site. Dozens of ambulances and at least one rescue helicopter were in use. Hours before the accident, the operator of the railway, Scotchell, was informed of a ban on operations due to flooding.
Scotland’s Prime Minister Nicola Sturgeon expressed her condolences to the victims’ families on Twitter. The head of the government said, “My deepest condolences to those who lost their lives in this tragic incident.”
