Belarus changed its mind about spending Russian debt on nuclear power plants – Rumbler / Finance

Moscow and Minsk will review nuclear power plant loans issued by Russia in 2011. This money was to be used to build a nuclear power plant, but Belarus changed its mind.

Now the country’s President Alexander Lukashenko wants to redirect $ 10 billion to other investment projects, Izvestia reported in reference to the Belarusian Finance Ministry.

The State Duma reported that the money is likely to go to support state-owned enterprises in Belarus, including the heavy engineering, agricultural and medical sectors.

The Belarusian parliament also confirmed to the newspaper that Lukashenko would arrive in Moscow on 22 February to discuss financial issues. But he is not going to ask for anything, the department assured, adding that he “wants to discuss economic consolidation”.

The meeting of the two leaders will be held in Sochi on 22nd.

As NEWS.ru previously wrote, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko announced that he intended to develop “good nationalism” in the country. He explained that such a thing would develop at the expense of the country’s traditions, which differentiates Belarusians, including Russians.
