Boris Johnson is facing a red flag after Donald Trump’s name was retained after a message congratulating US President-elect Joe Biden.

On Saturday, the prime minister called on Mr Biden and his vice-presidential couple, Kamala Harris, to visit the U.S. Congratulations after announcing the winner in the election.

Mr Johnson said in a statement in a graphic attached to his Twitter post: “Congratulations to Joe Biden for his election as President of the United States and to Kamala Harris for her historic historic achievement.

“The US is our most important ally and I want to work together on our shared priorities, from climate change to trade and security.”

However, it has since been observed that changing the brightness and contrast of the graphic reveals the outline of what appears in the previous statement.

The word “Trump” can be seen above the word “biden”, while the outline of other words can also be found.

A government spokesman said: “As you might expect, two statements were made in advance for the outcome of this closely contested election.

“A technical error meant that parts of the alternate message were embedded in the graphic background.”

SNP Westminster leader Ian Blackford posted on Twitter: “Incompetence has become the Tory government’s outpost.

“This is just another reminder of Boris Johnson’s close relationship with Trump, which has done a lot of damage.”

PM’s enthusiasm to work with Biden

Mr. Trump has yet to reach the U.S. He has yet to concede defeat in the presidential election and has repeatedly claimed victory in the election.

He has also made unequivocal allegations of fraud in the election process.
