BYU vs. Boyce State Score: No. 9 Congressmen made a strong statement in the No. 21 Broncos routine.

The No. 9 BYU finally broke for its first win on Boyz State’s Blue Turf on Friday night, and the Cougars secured fashion with a 51-17 victory over the 21st Broncos. Victory improved to 8-0 at BYU as the Cougars continue to advance on the dark-horse candidacy for the College Ledge Football Playoff with a statistically impressive effort against the best opponent on their 2020 schedule.

The Cougars gave the Boys State a 573-310 lead when they defeated the Broncos at home after the 2001 defeat to Washington and Washington. Injury to Boise State quarterback Jack Sears put the Broncos behind 2-1 as they were already without an early quarterback H. Buck Bier Chamier. After exiting his top two quarterbacks, the Boys turned to state freshmen Cade Fanegan and Andy Peters. Fenneg finally found a pair of touchdowns in the fourth quarter to give Khalil Shakir a little life in Boise State.

At the time, however, BYU had already put up with another formidable offensive performance. Quarterback Zach Wilson is connected with 21 of 27, surpassing 2,500 yards in the season while passing for 359 yards without any interruptions. The win was particularly meaningful for Wilson and other BYU upper classmen, who took part in a dramatic 21-16 defeat at Boise State in 2018. The defeat went down 0-5 all-time from BYU in road games against Boys State, with three losses coming from one point.

Unruly people were expecting another possession game on Friday night as BYU entered the kickoffs as a 4.5-point favorite. Since joining the Broncos Football Bowl Bowl subdivision in 1996, the vision of defeating the state’s highest-ranked enemy to play at Albertson Stadium has quickly faded. Tyler Allgier ran 86 yards for a touchdown on BYU’s second offensive game, Sears was injured shortly afterwards and the Cougars cruised the rest of the way.

BYU’s next game is November 21 against FCS’s North Alabama. The Cougars are set to conclude their 10-game slate against San Diego State on December 12th.
