This is a fine work by Scottish artist Susan Phillips, created for “An Open Sky”, a public art project promoted by the CRC Foundation to celebrate her 30th birthday and in collaboration with the Castello di Rivoli Museum of Contemporary Art has been created. The building containing the Press Museum was inaugurated on Saturday morning in the courtyard of the former orphans. She is heard on two songs by Maddalena Casulana, the first female composer in history, whose entire book of music has been printed and published. The canto score from Casulana’s “Il primo libro de madrigali” dated 1568 was recently discovered in the Civic Library of Cuneo, not far from Mondovi. Scottish artist sings two parts.
It can be heard every quarter of an hour on weekends and every hour from the following week, during museum opening hours. There are also free guided tours exploring the work of the Civic Museum of Phillips and Press on weekends, Saturday November 5 at 3 pm and 5 pm and Sunday November 6 at 11 am, 3 pm and 5 pm.
