England missed the quarter-finals at the Rugby World Cup. After the loss against Wales, the home team also lost against Australia (33:13) yesterday and were out a game before the end of the preliminary round.

Only the win counted, but it didn’t turn out for hosts England in the group game against title contenders Australia. The “Red and White” lose to the “Wallabies” at 1:33 pm and have to abandon sail in the home World Cup after the preliminary round.
In front of 82,000 spectators at Twickenham Stadium, the game of last chance for the British started badly. Although the Englishmen meanwhile come down to 3:3, they are already 3:17 behind at the break.

After the break, the Englishmen give it all again and they have another turn thanks to the first try and a penalty kick. But Australia is just better that day, goes a step further and wins easily in the end.
England is the first country to host the Rugby World Cup in a first round exit. Australia and Wales, who still meet, on the other hand, are second and third quarter-finalists behind defending champions New Zealand.
South Africa confidently beat Scotland
Co-favorites South Africa, on the other hand, have held onto impressively after their sensational opening loss against Japan. After 46:6 against Samoa, the “Springboxes” also won 34:16 against Scotland. They missed out on extra points with “only” three tries, but thanks to eleven points and a final group game against the inferior USA, the South Africans could hardly pull off their quarter-final qualification and group victory.
Japan, on the other hand, would have no chance of the quarter-finals despite another win against a higher-ranked rival (26:5 against Samoa), if Scotland won their last game against Samoa.
