Accept – Leader Taliban Speech on television for the first time since the group came to power Afghanistan in the middle of August. In his speech, he vowed not to interfere in the affairs of other countries and sought international help.

Mullah Mohammad Hassan Akhund, one of the founders of the Taliban and now the prime minister of his government, promised, “We assure all countries that we will not interfere in their internal affairs and that we want to have good economic relations with them.” Russia Today, Sunday (11/28/2021).

During his 30-minute speech, Hassan stressed that the Taliban are doing their best to solve the problems facing the Afghan people. He also blamed the previous government which supported United States of america (USA) called it the weakest government in the world.

Afghanistan faces the prospect of humanitarian catastrophe, with the United Nations saying half of its 38 million population is on the verge of starvation. Inflation has spiraled out of control and food prices are rising as the country’s economy struggles.

It was further crippled by sanctions and withdrawal of foreign aid when US troops pulled out of the country after the Taliban seized power. This foreign aid previously amounted to 75% of Afghanistan’s budget under the previous administration.

“We call on all international charities not to withdraw their aid and help our weary country,” the Taliban leader said.

He also reiterated calls from Washington to find the US$10 billion Afghan fund frozen in response to regime change in the country.

Hassan’s speech comes ahead of talks between the Taliban and the US in Qatar’s capital Doha next week. The group had previously said it planned to push the Biden administration to recognize its government and seek US help in rebuilding Afghanistan during the talks.
