Painting watercolors, says the British heir to the throne, “refreshes those parts of the soul that other activities cannot reach.” There are currently around 80 paintings of Prince Charles on display in London.

LONDON – The British heir to the throne, Prince Charles, feels himself transported to “another dimension” by painting in watercolors. The 73-year-old wrote a message from the PA news agency in an article about an exhibition in London.

At the moment, about 80 paintings by the prince can be seen in the rooms of the Prince’s Foundation – including landscape paintings with views of Scotland, France and Tanzania.

Charles also admitted that he was “surprised” by the quality of his early attempts at walking. He’s also humble about his current works: “I don’t give myself up under the illusion that my sketches represent great art or an emerging talent,” says Charles. He got painting because he was not really fond of photography. Painting with watercolors, on the other hand, “refreshes those parts of the soul that other activities cannot,” says Charles.
