In Italy play-off, Switzerland and England qualify

The final qualifying matches for the 2022 World Cup are on. On Monday, 15 November, Groups C, F and I made our decision and three new nations joined the ranks of the qualifiers.

Switzerland pushes Italy towards dams

Switzerland has given the predictions a lie. While Italy, the defending European champions, temporarily led Group C with a favorable goal difference (+2) before this last meeting, it fell to a bone on Monday. In the sold-out Belfast Windsor Park, the Northern Ireland Squadra was heroic in resisting Azura’s attack. Steven Davis’ teammates managed to control the opposing waves to secure the draw.

At the same time, Nati won 3–0 against Bulgaria, taking two points ahead of Roberto Mancini’s men. Noah Okafor, Ruben Vargas and Cedric Itten went on to give the Swiss clan their 5th successive qualification to the World Cup.

The Three Lions Box

10-0. Reading the results alone says a lot about Gareth Southgate’s Men’s Health run against San Marino. The British overtook their opponents, neither less nor less, scoring six goals in the first 45 minutes.

The author of the quadruple, captain Harry Kane, took matters into his own hands, as did young Gunners Bukayo Saka and Emil Smith-Roe, the latter scoring his first goal in the selection for his debut. It was the first time since May 1964 and the victory against the United States that England had scored 10 goals in a match.

With this slap the Three Lions finished first in Group I (26 points). After a loss to Hungary (1-2), Poland will have to go through the dams in second (20 points).

Update on qualifiers and play-offs

In Group F, Denmark, who have already qualified, did not resist a (2–0 loss) against Scotland, having already been assured of a play-off.

In Group I, despite their defeat against Hungary (1–2), behind England, it is Poland that qualify for the play-offs.
