Mobile can be charged with urine; Researchers with ‘P Power’ technology | UK scientists use urine to charge mobile phones

London: A group of researchers have come up with technology that can charge a mobile phone with urine. Researchers from Bristol, UK are behind this discovery. Energy is extracted from urine using microbial fuel cells.

Microorganisms that extract energy from urine have been used for invention. Trials for the ‘P Power’ project began two years ago at the Glastonbury Festival. At that time scientists had proved that electricity could be generated from toilets.

A team of researchers from England has discovered that electricity can be generated from human waste using a microbial fuel cell. It is hoped that one day this will be enough to generate electricity for domestic use. The trial began two years ago at the Glastonbury Festival. So far mobile phones, bulbs and robots have been able to charge. During the five days of the festival, people generated 300 watts of electricity by urinating in the toilets for five days. Ionis Eropoulos said.

The gist is that a 10 watt bulb can be illuminated for 30 hours using this electricity from urine.

The invention is based on microbial fuel cells. Until now, mobile phones, bulbs and robots have been powered by electricity generated from urine. Scientists hope that soon this energy will be used for domestic use.
