Poland, Lithuania and Latvia discuss the possibility of using the fourth article of the NATO treaty because of the migration crisis

Poland, Lithuania and Latvia are discussing the possibility of using the fourth article of the NATO treaty in relation to the migration crisis at the border with Belarus. If the situation continues to deteriorate, the discussions can lead to full-scale hostilities, this opinion was expressed by the Novaya Gazeta’s military observer Pavel Felgenhauer to Echo Moskvi.

If the NATO countries decide, the forces of the coalition could be mobilized within one to two months, Pavel Fellgenhauer said.

Today, Russian President Vladimir Putin again blamed Western countries for the situation on the Polish-Belarusian border.
Putin also claimed to know from the media about the crisis at the border.

The EU does not see the point of building a wall between Belarus and Poland. It was proposed to be created to solve the migration crisis.

The European Union’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs Josep Borrell said the wall would not help solve global problems and would not contain hybrid threats. He told about this in an interview given to the French newspaper Journal du Dimanche. According to him, guarding the borders of the state is one of the main duties of the officials of any country, but building a fortress from Europe is a bad and inappropriate choice. Borrell believes that in order to solve the problem, it is necessary to find its root cause, in particular, to understand why the migration crisis itself became possible. Africa is a promising place for development on the planet. According to the European Union, about one billion people will live there in 30 years. Western countries need to invest in the development project of this continent. Josep Borrell said that the new Great Wall of China will not rid Europe of external problems. His statements are a response to the demands of the authorities of Lithuania, Poland and Latvia to build a wall near Belarus. He believes that this will help European countries to get rid of the influx of migrants from the eastern states. Recently, more and more of them arrived at the Polish-Belarusian border. Illegal people have repeatedly tried to break the cordon and even set up camp near the border. Yesterday, fifty people were still able to set foot on the territory of Poland. The West accused Minsk of deliberately using the situation for political purposes.

Today, the situation at the border and the migration crisis were discussed by Belarusian Foreign Minister Vladimir Meki and Head of European Diplomacy Josep Borrell. The Belarusian Foreign Ministry website says the sides agreed to keep the channels open for dialogue.
