Andy Robertson once faced the wrath of Steve Bruce after a team coach carried a “slammed” Tesco bag full of Carlsberg.
Robertson, now a Champions League and Premier League winner with Liverpool, was signed by Hull City to Dundee United for £2.8m. The youngster quickly climbed the charts at Hull before making the move to the Reds in 2017.
But the Scotsman once made a nearly fatal mistake as a rookie for the Tigers after being tipped off by former teammate Jake Livermore. After being jokingly told to bring “beers” to a team outing, Robertson soon learned the hard way about manager Bruce’s beer policy after a misogynistic outburst.
Bruce told The Mirror: “We organized a club outing for the race – and Jake Livermore organized it – well and rightfully so. Jake told him to bring a load of beer. Andy duly obliged.” .
“He was only 20 and staggered under the weight of two giant Tesco bags when he tried to board the coach with them. Two bags – full of Carlsberg.
