Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel is saddened in “Guardian” that his midfield talent Billy Gilmour is not in the Scottish squad for the upcoming international matches against Austria, Israel and the Faroe Islands and indirectly blames himself.
Gilmour (19) is considered one of the greatest Scottish talents, but is rarely found in Chelsea. “He has three problems: N’Golo Kanté, Mateo Kovačić and Jorginho,” Buchel said.
“Blues” (Linz-born Kovačić has already started 26 times) has already started two of the midfield’s three designated plays and the third is on the bench. Gilmour often does not find a place in the 18-man squad.
Gilmour was offered a loan, but Tuchel himself refused. “How I decided for Chelsea and Billy accepted it in a five-minute conversation,” Tuchel said. Postscript: “I hope he knows how much I appreciate him.”
On Sunday in the FA Cup, Sheffield United want to make time to play against Tuchel Gilmour. He said openly: “I can only warmly recommend Scotland Gilmour. He trains at the highest level!”
