Qualifiers and jump-offs in the Europe region

The first stage of the qualifiers for the Europe region is over. In total, ten teams have validated their tickets for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, which includes France, Germany, England, Belgium, Spain and the Netherlands. Twelve play-offs, including Portugal and Italy, as well as stunning North Macedonia, will compete for the last three tickets at the end of the playoffs to be played in late March. A total of 34 teams, including Norway and Romania, will watch the celebration on television.

The draw for the playoffs will take place on 26 November in Zurich. The twelve play-offs (ten runners-up in the group and two teams drawn according to the final classification of the League of Nations: Austria and the Czech Republic) will then be divided into three tables. A semi-final (24 and 25 March) and a final (28 and 29 March) will be played in the same match with extra time and penalties within each of them. The winner of each final will get their place in the 2022 World Cup. The best six runners-up in qualifying, seeded in a draw, will have the advantage of receiving at home in the semi-finals: Portugal, Scotland, Italy, Russia, Sweden and Wales. Another draw will determine which country will host its home rival in the play-off final.
