Former Scotland manager and legendary Rangers coach Walter Smith Glasgow football team announced on Tuesday that he died at the age of 73.
“It is with great sadness that we are announcing the passing of our former coach, president, club legend Walter Smith.Rangers said in a statement.
In two stints on the club bench, Smith won 21 trophies, including seven Scottish league titles in eight years, during his first stint at Rangers starting in 1991.
He then coached Everton in the English Premier League for four years, and was briefly an assistant.Alex Ferguson At Manchester United before becoming the coach of Scotland in 2004.
In 2007, he returned to Ibrox Park, winning three new league titles and in 2008 losing to Rangers in the UEFA Cup Final (the former name of the Europa League) to Zenith Saint Petersburg. He retired in 2011.
