Tribune – As Brexit applies, the Scottish Prime Minister confirmed Boris Johnson and his government’s desire to secure a new referendum on Scottish independence from the British Parliament.
The Kovid crisis reminds us of our common humanity like never before, while countries around the world are facing the same big challenge: ensuring population security. Thanks to the development of vaccines, a remarkable international collaborative project, we now look forward to better days. The collective spirit will be more important than ever as we begin the process of rebuilding our economies and societies.
Unfortunately for those of us who live in Scotland, today we find ourselves at a crossroads in a different project, driven by completely different values: Brexit. Most people in Scotland voted to remain in the European Union. it is no wonder. The founding values of the European Union – human dignity, freedom, democracy, equality, rule of law and respect for human rights – are the very values of Scotland.
