England fell at the opening of the 6 Nations tournament. The XV de la Rose, a favorite with the Blues for the benefit of this 2021 edition, was chosen cold at home by Scotland (11-6) this Saturday, having not won at Twenikam since 1983.
First earthquake in this 2021 tournament! Thirty-eight years later, Scotland won in England (11-6)! It is a historic meeting, the oldest in the history of world rugby. For the first day of the 6-nation tournament, England held their Scottish neighbor at Twickenham. The 139th clash between the two selections in 150 years quickly increased the visitors’ advantage. After five minutes of play, Finn Russell, who was making his return to the national team after being sidelined from the previous tournament and missing the Autumn Nations Cup with an injury, scored the first three points.
Well into their game, Scotland dominated the first round and took advantage of the temporary boycott of Billy Vunipola in the English side to extend their lead. Betrayed by a rebound that prevented him from scoring in the first attempt of the match, Scottish left-hander Duhan van der Merwe recovered a few seconds later by flattening the in-goal after a surplus at the half of the English ground. Finn Russell missed the change and then got a yellow card, leaving himself at fourteen for the first act to end and the beginning of the second period, while Owen Farrell sent the ball twice between the sticks allowing L to lift England . 11-6 pm in the Halt.
Not recognizable, Eddie Jones players were pushed to the end by a brave Scottish team and did not score a point in the second period.. Logically, Scotland won the way (11-6) despite two failures from Finn Russell (6 points) and one from Stuart Hogg in the leg. Thistle XV had not defeated its illustrious rival at Twinkenham for 38 years. Scotland also won the Calcutta Cup, an annual trophy awarding the winner of a duel between two selections within a six-nation framework. While France started their tournament with a final victory in Italy (50-10), England have already burned their clown.
