At the same time, according to the entrepreneur, the most professional cybercriminals speak Russian like almost all the best programmers.

“The Soviet, Russian education system produces vast numbers of the smartest programmers. The most vicious cybercriminals graduate from the same universities as the most professional programmers who work on the bright side,” Kaspersky said.

According to programmers, criminal business is organized in the same way as a normal one. Criminals have their own economy. Usually hackers make viruses to sell it. The buyer infects thousands of computers worldwide and then sells access to the infected computers.

According to him, the victims of Russian-speaking hackers are more often North America, that is, the USA, Canada, Europe, less often Asian countries, because there are language problems there.

At the same time, they say that almost any cybercrime, especially one that is committed regularly — and cybercriminals require consistent funding — can be uncovered, Kaspersky says.

“Nowadays, criminal gangs hunt mainly for the general office network, they need to go to the accounting department, the financial department, they just need money. But when they understand what profit they get from attacks on the industrial sector. If done, it would hurt. A classic example that happened recently is a cyber attack on a US oil pipeline Colonial Pipe. They hit the office network, not the hardware, and the company was up,” he said.
