iPhone 15 may be the first smart Fone Apple’s that will integrate a periscope camera, that is, one with a lens that expands like a sort of telescope. A periscope lens may be useful in some cases. Such targets have already appeared on some Android smartphones.
Next year, Apple will launch the iPhone 14 and possibly the iPhone 15 in 2023. Details about the iPhone 14 aren’t 100% certain yet, but according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, details appear about the iPhone 15.
According to the analyst, it is possible that the iPhone 15 will integrate a foldable camera lens design also known as the periscope camera. Conventional cameras rely on light transmitted to the sensor.
A periscope lens is still based on light, but instead of transmitting light directly to the sensor, it first passes through a prism. The main reason for using such modern lenses in smartphones is that smartphones are very thin.
In the case of a dedicated room in which the objective and the body are large enough, a periscope system to direct the light through a prism is not necessary, and this is because there is sufficient space.
But given that smartphones are thin, such a goal may be necessary. It will also enhance optical zoom capability, unlike digital zoom which basically means cropping.
The zoom capability of Apple smartphones is not to be envied at the moment, so a periscope camera can be useful in this regard.
Anyway, we are still two years away from launching the iPhone 15 smartphone, so this information about the periscope camera cannot be confirmed so soon. Take this information with caution for some time.
