Kannur: An elderly man who traveled more than a kilometer to meet a girl he met through a mobile phone was duped. He reached Kuthuparamba in Kannur from Ernakulam but the old man got stuck when the woman switched off the phone. The 68-year-old reached Kannur Koothuparamba by train from Nazarakkal in Ernakulam. But till yesterday the woman talking on the phone had switched off the phone. Eventually, the elderly man approached the Kerala Police, realizing that he had been duped.

He told the police that he was talking to the woman daily for the last three months. On the basis of the information given by the old man, the police found the girl but she refused to come to the police station. The young woman was of the opinion that she did not know the old man and had not called anyone.

This demoralized the police involved in the incident. He told the old man what he had said but was not ready to go back and would leave only if he saw it. Eventually the police sent him back after saying goodbye. The police sent him back after paying for the train to reach Thalassery railway station.

Thiruvananthapuram: The couple, who ran away leaving their children, were caught after four months. Police took into custody the couple who fled from Malappuram to Thiruvananthapuram Vellarda. The police arrested Yadavathil Prasad of Cheriya Kolla Palakonam and Dhanya of Cheriya Kolla Eretathala Sandhya Bhavan. The married couple fled leaving their children. After both of them left the country, their relatives lodged a complaint with the police. Police have started investigation but no information has been received about them.

After this a special investigation team was formed to trace them. They were found in Malappuram by a police team led by Vellarda SHO MR Mridul Kumar. Both were discovered after scientific investigation. Police focused on the mobile tower and investigated the CCTV footage. Both were living in a secret rented house in Malappuram. The accused were produced in the court after medical examination. Both those who registered the case under the Juvenile Justice Department have been sent to judicial custody.
