The police arrested Yadavathil Prasad of Cheriya Kolla Palakonam and Dhanya of Cheriya Kolla Eretathala Sandhya Bhavan. The married couple fled leaving their children. After both of them left the country, their relatives lodged a complaint with the police. Police have started investigation but no information has been received about them.

After this a special investigation team was formed to trace them. They were found in Malappuram by a police team led by Vellarda SHO MR Mridul Kumar. Both were discovered after scientific investigation. Police focused on the mobile tower and investigated the CCTV footage. Both were living in a secret rented house in Malappuram. The accused were produced in the court after medical examination. Both those who registered the case under the Juvenile Justice Department have been sent to judicial custody.
