For the second time in two days, Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke on the telephone with German Chancellor Angela Merkel about the migrant crisis at the Belarusian-Polish border, the Kremlin said.
“The leaders continued their discussions on the situation at the border between Belarus and the European Union and reaffirmed the importance of resolving the serious migration crisis as quickly as possible in accordance with international humanitarian standards,” the Kremlin said in a statement.
Vladimir Putin once again urged the EU to re-establish talks with Belarus to resolve the issue.
The two leaders also discussed the situation in Ukraine, with the Russian president drawing Chancellor Merkel’s attention to the use of drones by the Ukrainian armed forces in violation of the Minsk Agreement.
“President Putin pointed to Kiev’s destructive policies, which increasingly rely on force. Thus, it uses attack drones in violation of the Minsk Agreement,” the statement said.
And to conclude: “The unsettled and dangerous provocations of the armed forces of the United States and other NATO countries in the Black Sea are also mentioned.”
