Tesla has begun rolling out new software software updates under its full self-driving beta program, and CEO Elon Musk says it could already reduce driver interference by a third.
Less than two weeks have passed since then Tesla has begun rolling out the first version of its “full self-driving” feature Some users in beta.
As we reported earlier, Tesla is already collecting large amounts of data From his test fleet and now he is using it for improvement on the system.
Yesterday, Tesla began making a new 2020.40.8.12 new software update to owners with the Illy F Access FSD beta and they are reporting a smoother experience with AI’s driving capabilities.
CEO Elon Musk said on Twitter that the update could reduce driver interventions by as much as 33%:
“We measure this primarily in the likelihood of intervention. Some issues were addressed in this update, resulting in ~ 1/3 less interventions. Many of the improvements include silly bugs fixing vs gorgeous eureka moments. This is true for most beta releases in my experience. “
As we noted earlier, Tesla calls the system “full self-driving”, it really requires the driver to keep his hands on his steering wheel and be ready to take control.
Tesla could learn from those interventions to help improve its neural network in future updates.
Musk says AutoTomeker plans to push new updates every 5 to 10 days, leading to a U.S. launch later this year. In full self-driving will lead to the widespread release of the beta.
The CEO warns that errors will never reach zero, but Tesla hopes they will be low enough to be safer than humans and, therefore, will be able to overcome the driver oversize ban:
“Guilt will never be zero, but at some point the probability of guilt will be much lower than the average human.”
Musk had previously said that Tesla could reach this goal by the end of 2020, but now it looks like a mass release is expected in December with the FSD beta and that version is still expected to rely heavily on driver attention.
The new software software update released last night also comes with an updated user interface with new visualization:
