Placed in Group I during the Euro 2020 qualifiers, Scotland were in the company of Belgium, Russia, Cyprus, Kazakhstan and San Marino. After starting with a 3–0 loss against Kazakhstan, Scotland took two victories against San Marino (2–0) and then Cyprus (2–1). Scotland beat the rest of the qualifiers with four consecutive defeats against Belgium (3–0, 4–0), Russia (2–1, 4–0). Scotland finished in style with three more victories against San Marino (6–0), Cyprus (2–1) and then Kazakhstan (3–1). However, Navy and Yellow finished third in the group with 15 points.
Playoffs to try to qualify for Euro 2020
After failing to secure one of the two qualifying places in Group I, Scotland would have to return to the playoffs after 20 places in the qualifiers to obtain one of the remaining four places. Scotland started off with a win, eliminating Israel on penalties after a 0–0 draw. Scotland’s Journey in the History of the Competition
Scotland will be in its third Euro appearance this year. The first participation of the Scottish team took place in 1992 in Sweden. The team was eliminated from the tournament in the first round. Four years later, the team was represented in the European Championship and was unfortunately abandoned through the back door. This year, Scotland will try to get people talking about it during Group de Mass. It shares this hen with England, Croatia, the Czech Republic.
