Scotland punished after football fans booed Israeli anthem

FIFA, the world football federation, has fined Scotland after fans booed Israel’s national anthem in a recent match between the country and Israel, reported Friday. Jewish Chronicle,

The Scottish Football Association would have to pay some £8,000 for an incident that involved an “improper use of the flag”, apparently a Palestinian flag waved by a man. The incidents took place on 9 October during a World Cup qualifier in Glasgow, which was won by Scotland 3–2.

According to JCOutside the stadium, pro-Palestinian activists held a banner that read: “Zionism is racism. Victory in the Intifada.”
