The match will take place at Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh on Saturday 20 March, with kick-off at 2.15pm.
The history of Scots vs. Italians, like the other four nations represented in the Six Nations, is largely a happy one, more often than not with newcomers, as the tournament has not had deer since its first appearance in 2000 .
Italy finished with the competition’s wooden spoon 15 times out of 21, with Scotland replacing them four times each at the tournament table and French and Welsh.
In all competitions since 1996, Scotland have faced the Italians 32 times, won 24 games and lost eight.
The Dark Blues have won in one of their last twelve matches against the Azzurri, with the odd man losing in the Six Nations 22–19 home run six years ago, a one-time try by Mark Bennett and four of four a punishment. A conversion by Greig Ladlav, to avoid a sixth loss to his visitors in 11 years, was not enough.
Here’s how the last 12 games came …
