TotalEnergies: Participate in Scottwind Loft
TotalEnergies, a consortium formed by Green Investment Group, a subsidiary of Macquarie Group and Scottish developer RIDG, has announced the submission of a proposal for an ocean wind project in an area located west of the Orkney Islands. The project, called the West of Orkney Windfarm, has a capacity of 2 gigawatts to supply electricity to more than two million homes. It is currently being assessed by the Crown Estate of Scotland, as part of the Scotland Concession Awards cycle.

“This proposal is the crown of nearly five years of discussions with stakeholders in Caithness and Orkney. A number of agreements have been signed by the consortium with the Orkney Harbor Authority and Scrabster (Scrabster Harbor Trust), aimed at improving the port infrastructure and to strengthen the region’s competitiveness for future marine wind projects,” TotalEnergies wrote in a press release.

“A special Memorandum of Understanding has also been signed with the European Maritime Energy Center (EMEC), which formalizes the already long relationship in terms of technological innovation and collection of environmental data and is based on the facilities and its EMEC has unparalleled skills in research and development in the marine energy sector”, the French group continues.
