It is a spectacle of desolation in the village of Bihukort, a small town situated between Arras and Bapaum. This Sunday, just after 6pm, what appears to be a tornado devastated everything in its path over a large part of the village (around the streets of Bapaum, Center and Dorrier).
During this great storm cell, the roofs of dozens of houses were blown away by gusts of wind. The damage is very impressive. The floor is covered with broken tiles. Dozens of trees were uprooted. The walls have fallen. Part of the roof of the church has disappeared. According to the eyewitnesses present on the spot, this is the actual scene of the battle. The power supply has been disconnected, the wires are strewn to the ground.
A crisis unit was activated at the town hall in the presence of the deputy prefect, gendarmerie and firefighters. Fortunately, apart from a few minor injuries, there were no casualties.
26-year-old Lycian speaks of an “apocalypse” after the passage of this tornado. “I thought we were going to die with my boyfriend. It was roaring everywhere with the sound of constant thunder. I was still shivering an hour after the tornado hit my house.”. “It’s as if we were sucked in,” testifies Catherine Sauvage. At one point we thought it was hailstones but it was actually the tiles from the neighbor’s shed that had blown off. ยป
