France has canceled a meeting between Armed Forces Minister Florence Parly and her British counterpart, scheduled for this week, after Australia abandoned orders for French submarines in favor of a deal with Washington and London, on the situation said two sources familiar with the Reuters report.
Parly personally made the decision to skip the bilateral meeting with British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace, sources said, informs News.ro.
The French Defense Ministry could not be immediately contacted, and the British Defense Ministry declined to comment.
Sources confirmed earlier information in the Guardian newspaper that the meeting had been cancelled.
A diplomatic crisis sparked by the cancellation of a multi-billion dollar submarine contract concluded in 2016, Paris recalled its ambassadors to Washington and Canberra.
France says its allies have not consulted him, while Australia says it has explained its contractual concerns to Paris for months.
French President Emmanuel Macron and US President Joe Biden will hold telephone calls in the coming days to discuss the crisis, a French government spokesman said on Sunday.
