The former Republican president thus returns to allegations that he has repeated several times, particularly during his campaign for the 2020 presidency, and which have been denied by the individual concerned.
Hunter Biden is one of Donald Trump’s favorite targets. The Trump camp has regularly criticized the fact that the troubled son had economic interests in Ukraine and China when his father was Barack Obama’s vice president (2009–2017).
In an interview broadcast by Real America’s Voice program “Just the News” on Tuesday, Mr Trump assured that the wife of the Moscow mayor gave Hunter Biden and his “family” $3.5 million.
Trump said, “That’s a lot of money. He gave him $3.5 million and I think Putin will have the answer. I think he should make it public.”
“I think we should know that answer,” he added during the interview, which, according to his presenters, was done at his residence in Florida.
Donald Trump had already asked Joe Biden during a debate before the presidential election, “Why, out of curiosity, the wife of the mayor of Moscow gave your son 3.5 million dollars.”
“That’s not true,” replied the Democrat.
Donald Trump has in the past accused Joe Biden of obtaining the dismissal of a Ukrainian prosecutor to protect a gas company, Burisma, from prosecution for corruption, as his son was then on the group’s board of directors.
This “Ukrainian affair” had earned Donald Trump a historic impeachment process, after the Democratic opposition accused Ukraine of abusing his presidential functions by pressuring Ukraine to investigate the business activities of his political rival and his son.
He was eventually acquitted by the Senate.
