SIPRI, the international organization that monitors the world’s nuclear weapons, has said that at present, the number of nuclear weapons globally has increased more than last year. This number is now increasing steadily after a few years of decline since the 1990s. SIPRI has cited the active nuclear arms race in the world as a major reason for this.

SIPRI mentions nine nuclear armed countries in the world that have included the US, Russia, Britain, France, China, India, Pakistan, Israel and North Korea in this competition. The report said that although the total number of nuclear bombs may have decreased, the number of nuclear weapons deployed with the military for immediate use has increased. In the year 2020, 3,720 nuclear bombs were deployed, while in the year 2021, 3,825 nuclear warheads are kept in a ready condition to attack anytime.

The US-Russia continued to reduce their nuclear weapons arsenals in 2020 but both are estimated to have more than 50 more nuclear weapons actively deployed in early 2021, compared to a year earlier.

After China-Pakistan, India is also increasing arms
SIPRI also pointed out that apart from China, Pakistan is also modernizing and expanding its nuclear weapons list. In the last one year, China has made 30 and Pakistan has made 5 nuclear weapons. Let us tell you that China and Pakistan have been rivals of India for the last several years and are involved in an arms race. To compete with them, India has also started increasing its stock of weapons by tightening its waist.
