Ship Ahoy and Cheers! And save the world a little…
Microsoft inventor Bill Gates (66, assets: 86 billion euros) is at the forefront of the fight against climate change.
At the UN climate conference COP26 in Glasgow, Gates has now pledged 270 million euros in aid. In doing so, it leaves its fat carbon footprint.
For the conference, Gates interrupted his ferry holiday over the Turkish Aegean Sea and flew to Scotland by private jet (type: Gulfstream).
The flight generated 20,000 kg of CO2. For comparison: on the holiday plane to Mallorca, a person generates a weight of 154 kg).
Climate friendliness stops on vacation…
Gates had helicoptered 50 of his closest friends to Fethiye’s Simi Beach Club for their birthday party a week ago. Also present: billionaire friend and Amazon founder Jeff Bezos (57, assets: 173 billion euros), who himself cruises through the Aegean Sea on a super yacht (with a helicopter).
On the party menu: sushi, seafood. And: liters of champagne.
Against bad CO2 conscience…
