At least 34 people had to be rescued on Saturday after they were trapped in a snowflake drifting off the coast of Point Comfort in Green Bay, Wisconsin, United States.

“We believe that a boat passing through the bay shortly before the ice broke may have contributed to destabilizing the ice,” the department said.
By the end of the rescue the iceberg floated for about a kilometer and “though apparently stable, the situation was deteriorating rapidly”. The rescue was carried out using boats operated by fans (airboats).
Two of those rescued from the ice told WLUK that they were ice fishing for the first time when they heard gunshots.
