50 protesters shot dead by security forces in Myanmar - Politics - News

A news portal and eyewitnesses reported that security forces in Myanmar shot dead at least 50 protesters today, Saturday in a brutal crackdown on dissent, coinciding with the head of the ruling military council That the army will protect the people and seek democracy.

Protests against the coup of 1 February took to the streets of Yangon, Mandalay and other cities and towns, when they were warned to be shot in the “head and back”, when army generals celebrated Armed Forces Day.

“Today is a day of shame for the armed forces,” Group (CRBH) spokesman Dr. Saasa said, which was in opposition to the military council, which was set up by elected representatives, who were elected by the coup.

“Army generals are celebrating Armed Forces Day after killing over 300 innocent civilians,” he said.

The Myanmar news portal reported on Saturday that security forces opened fire on the crowd during a demonstration outside a police station in Dala district of Yangon in the early hours of Saturday, killing at least four people. He said at least ten others were injured.

A resident told Reuters that three people, including a young man who played for a local U-21 football team, were shot dead in a protest in Insein district of Yangon.
