1. Tag someone in a text conversation

Updates are mainly focused on MessPal’s messaging app Group iMessage conversations.

What: When you want to get someone’s attention (useful for large groups), you can tag in the conversation and draw a line in your conversation by replying to the message directly. It should get you a timely response.

2. Pin the conversation to the top of the messages

What: Pin conversations at the top of your Messages app means you don’t have to scroll through a long list of contacts and group conversations to find your favorite contacts. This is especially useful if you go to a group like family chat or friend chat every day, or if you are planning a long-term plan like a group watch party.

how: You can pin contact or conversation at the top of your conversation list by swiping to the right in any story.

What: Instead of using Google’s translation app on your iPhone, iOS 14 has a back-in translation app that allows you to convert text and even communicate with someone who only speaks a different language. You can translate English, Mandarin Chinese, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Arabic, Portuguese and Russian.

how: Once you open the application you have two options. To use translated is-to-text, you can type the word or sentence you are translating or tap the microphone icon at the bottom of the screen. Once you’re done, the app will translate what you say into the language of your choice. This is especially useful if you are asking someone a quick question or even want to hear an accent.

To keep the conversation going, turn the phone to landscape mode and tap on the same mic icon – you don’t have to press and hold.

4. More tidy home screen with app library

Never wish that Your iPhone had an app drawer like Android? Well, now it does. This is called an application library.

What: The App Library is a new screen located just to the right of your last home screen. It automates all the apps on your phone in folders based on the app category. The purpose of this feature is to make it easy for you to find all the apps installed on your iPhone. It’s handy with another new home screen feature that lets you hide pages from apps you use frequently.

how: When you want to open an app, use the app library that is not displayed on a screen in your home. To go to it, swipe from right to left to go to the final home screen. Use the automatically configured folders to find the app icon you want, or use the search bar at the top of the screen to find the app’s name if you’re not sure where it’s located. Alternatively, at the top of the App Library screen you’ll find two folders: Notifications and Recently Added. Both will automatically update and configure both apps based on how often you use the app and which you have recently installed.

5. Widgets have a new look and a new home

You no longer have to envy your Android-using friends – the iPhone can now have widgets on the home screen. That’s right.

What: Instead of being limited to the live Today view on the left side of your home screen, you can now add widgets directly to your display, with multiple sizes as an option. There’s also a smart stack widget that will show you information from multiple apps when you think you need it. For example, when you wake up in the morning it can show the weather widget next to your calendar lender widget.

how: You can view your widgets today on the left side of your main home screen, the way you always have them, or you can drag and drop a widget to your home screen from Today View. Alternatively, when you edit your app layout, you can tap Plus Sign in to the top-left corner of the screen, bring up the Widget Gallery and see what widgets you can add to your device.

6. Picture in Picture is a convenient tool that you will like
