Bandits Kill 35 People - News from Fakti.bg - World

At least 35 people have been killed by bandits in a series of attacks in northwestern Nigeria’s Zamfara state. State police spokesman Mohammad Shehu said 35 people were killed in five villages. According to him, they were involved in robbery and kidnapping.

Agence France-Presse, citing eyewitnesses, said the attacks took place on 8 July, killing 43 people in total. In turn, the Nigerian newspaper “Premium Times” noted that after two bandits were killed on 7 July by locals, villages in the Faro District of Zamfara State were attacked, who threatened them with weapons.

For the second year in a row, Nigeria has seen a significant increase in the number of bandits attacks on civilians. Criminals kill people, take hostages for ransom, steal cattle, threaten residents, make various extortions. Officers are forced to use special police and army units to deal with widespread crime. A local police unit is also being set up.
