President Trump invoked the name of George Floyd during his appearance in the White House to celebrate Friday’s new jobs.
In one of the few sections of his speech that appears to come from prepared observations, Trump said: “Equal justice under the law must mean that every American receives equal treatment in every encounter with law enforcement, regardless of race, color, genre or creed. They must receive fair treatment from law enforcement. They must receive it. “
“We have all seen what happened last week. We cannot allow this to happen. Let’s hope George looks down and says this is a great thing that is happening for our country. (It’s) a great day for him. It is a great day for everyone. This is a big, big day in terms of equality, “continued Trump.

Prior to his comments on Floyd and equal justice under the law, Trump’s remarks on the ongoing demonstrations following Floyd’s death had focused primarily on praising the work done by law enforcement to crack down on protesters and solicit some been to allow the National Guard to enter.
“Call me, we’ll be ready for them so fast they’ll turn heads,” he said, noting the success in Minneapolis, criticizing the mayor of the city.
