Delta Airline Expands Transatlantic Services to Scotland, Bringing Scots Closer to Top USA Destinations

Great news for Scottish travellers. Delta Airlines has expanded its direct transatlantic route options, meaning more great destinations like New Orleans, Las Vegas, San Francisco, and Mexico City are closer than ever. Previously, the options available direct were limited, with multiple layovers common for Scottish travellers flying directly across the ocean. With either new routes or more frequent flights, Scottish travellers will have their pick of these amazing top destinations:

New Orleans

New Orleans is an amazing destination for those who love great food, great parties, and, of course, jazz. There are so many incredible things to do in New Orleans, which is why it’s no wonder that it’s a top choice for so many travellers around the world. Some of the top highlights of this trip would be exploring the infamous French Quarter, that’s home to Bourbon Street, the French Market, and Royal Street. There are also stunning and meandering cemeteries and plantation museums. The biggest draw, however, is Mardi Gras, which is internationally renowned, and a bucket-list must.

Las Vegas

Las Vegas is a truly unique city with an interesting history. It is an adult’s playground, and for great reason. Just as that new route can take you to the stunning streets of New Orleans, it can also help you easily get to Las Vegas for a hen or stag party, for a big milestone celebration, or just because.

San Francisco

Like New Orleans, San Francisco has some beautiful architecture and iconic sights. As a larger city, there’s almost an infinite number of things to do, from dining to shopping to events. Here, you’ll find the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, the movie-famous Lombard Street, and some great museums, like the Palace of Fine Arts and the California Academy of Sciences.

Mexico City

Mexico is a stunning country that can feel incredibly far away for Scots. With the new Atlantic connection, however, Mexico City is just a short hop away. Mexico City is famed for being home to some of the best museums and art galleries in the Americas, for its amazing food, and of course, for the day trips, you can take to Aztec ruins. From staying in the city to going to a resort, there are so many exciting ways to soak in the best the city has to offer.

Other Great Airline Routes from Scotland

Delta adding Atlanta as a direct stop destination opens connections to some of the best destinations in North and Central America. Delta also has direct connections from Scotland to Boston and New York. Other airlines offer direct connections to Chicago, Washington DC, Toronto and Halifax. The new Atlanta route means short connecting flights to some of the more hard-to-reach bucket-list destinations and more exciting adventures for Scots everywhere.

If you’re planning on going elsewhere throughout the continent, aim to pass through either New York, Atlanta, or Toronto. These major hubs will connect you to the top destinations on that side of the world so that you can tick off those bucket list destinations.
