Long wait ended: Glasgow Rangers are Scottish champions for the first time since 2011.
The record champion, around team manager Steven Gerrard, won his 55th title prematurely after nine years, nine months and 20 days as Dundee United did not advance 0–0 to rival Celtic (51 championships).
After 28 wins and four draws in 32 matches of the season without a loss, the Rangers still cannot be eliminated from the top of the table with six matches. With a 3–0 win over St. Mirren on Saturday, Gerrard’s team laid the foundation to end the Celtic series after nine championships. With the tenth consecutive title, the eternal rival would have set a record.

For Rangers around former Mainz Leon Balogun, the championship after bankruptcy in 2012 and the fall in the fourth division are an exemption. The club returned to the Scottish Premier League in 2016, with Liverpool veteran Gerrard joining in 2018. The 40-year-old celebrated his first title as coach on Saturday when he slipped on his belly as a “diver” on the floor of a beer-soaked cabin.
Despite the ban due to the epidemic, thousands of fans gathered in front of the Ibro Stadium and celebrated with Bengali fire. The Scottish government reprimanded the supporters, with the police closing both eyes. Gerrard greeted colleagues from a leaning cabin window and told them to be “polite” and take care of themselves.
