For Jean-Luc Mélenchon, the battle is not over: “I ask the French to elect me prime minister”

Pour Jean-Luc Mélenchon, la bataille n'est pas finie: "Je demande aux Français de m'élire Premier ministre"

This Tuesday, Jean-Luc Mélenchon was the guest of BFM TV. Third in the first round ballot, the rebel candidate returned in despair after losing behind Marine Le Pen. “I don’t know if a phenomenon like this can be digested”, did he announce. He also admits that he believed he could defend his views against those of Emmanuel Macron.

As everyone knows, it is ultimately Marine Le Pen who is out of the game and is in the running for the second round of the presidential election. What will be the future of Jean-Luc Mélenchon after this defeat? He gave many answers. “The picture is that the country is roughly divided between three equal blocks. Emmanuel Macron, Marine Le Pen and finally the popular block.”

He took an oath to defend the last city. Then he made a loud announcement: “I ask the French people to elect me prime minister. I call on all those who wish to join the Popular Union to join us in this great fight.” The candidate thus called on the French to vote for “majority rebels” and “members of the popular union” in June’s legislative elections.

Thus Mélénchon from LREM or RN would be the prime minister of the future President or President of the Republic. Which is contradictory when we see how he treated these two candidates. “Take the problem from the other end. I don’t want Marine Le Pen or Emmanuel Macron to lead this country. The only way to stop them from ruling alone is to become prime minister. For that, my constituents have to choose who I will be. Not by the favor or grace of Prime Minister Mr. Macron or Mrs. Le Pen, but because the French wanted it.”
