This Tuesday, around 3:30 p.m., a parachutist at Bondeus Airport found himself trapped in a tree of a residence located along Grand Boulevard, Avenue de la République, on the border of Lille, Marc-en-Baroul and La Madeleine. His family went straight to the scene: “When we found out what had happened, we were a little scared,” said his wife, along with their two daughters.
“I couldn’t hear the signal anymore”
After reaching an altitude of 1500 m, the parachutist jumped off the plane before losing contact with the rest of the team. “I could no longer hear the signal in my headset. I was distracted by the wind when I opened my parachute,” he remarks with emotion. I no longer knew how to recognize myself. Panicked, the skydivers had two choices : landing on a football field or on a tree. “I had to make my choice quickly, and I told myself that leaves and branches would ease my fall,” he concluded.
a first experience
The father of the family had jumped several times before, but had never jumped independently. “My relatives gave me this jump as a gift for my forties,” he says. After several hours of training, the student parachutist was finally able to jump alone. A first experience that gave him a bitter taste, though: “I’m going to stop skydiving, I’ve filled the rest of my life!” ,
