Iran enters South Korean tanker in Hormuz Strait

Iran has boarded a South Korean tanker in the Strait of Hormuz. According to Iranian state television, Revolutionary Guard soldiers boarded as the ship polluted the Persian Gulf with toxins.

According to British officials, the tanker was going from an oil refinery in the United Arab Emirates to Saudi Arabia.

In the Strait of Hormuz, according to the British, there was a “conversation” between Iran and a cargo ship. The ship was directed to Iranian territorial waters. People from South Korea, Indonesia, Vietnam and Myanmar have been arrested, many of whom are unknown.

The incident comes at a sensitive time. The Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs of South Korea is expected to visit Tehran this week to discuss the sanctions of the detained Iranian bank in South Korea. South Korean banks have accumulated $ 7 billion as a result of US sanctions on Iran.

The financially significant strait has long been troubled. Twenty percent of all the oil transported in the world passes through it.

According to Iran’s American work, there have been several attacks on oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz. Tehran denies this and says that Saudi Arabia is behind the attacks.

Last year, the Dutch Navy participated in a mission in the Strait to guarantee free passage for merchant ships. Other European Union countries also participated in the mission.
