Dench was photographed for the June issue in early March, before a blockade was introduced in the UK.

“I’m sure I feel like everyone else, so unprecedented times are difficult enough to understand,” Dench told the magazine.

“The good thing is that it made people aware of the situation of others who are completely alone,” he added. “If a great kindness comes out of this, then it will be an advantage.”

There have been many attempts by Vogue – and it’s its British counterpart – to apparently challenge conventional beauty standards.

However, readers criticized the brand for still remaining within the narrow parameters of the fashion industry in terms of body shape and skin tone, although it has a recently diversified approach.

Enninful took over the leadership of British Vogue in August 2017.

The former Ghanaian-born model, raised in London, is the first male and non-white publisher in the history of the magazine, and has led an attempt to make the magazine more diverse.

Enninful put the black English model Adwoa Aboah on the cover of her first ever issue in December 2017 and made Halima Aden the first hijabi woman to appear on the magazine cover in 2018.
