‘Like Kindergarten for Divers’: 45th Deep-Diving Pool Opens in Poland

MSZZOZONOV, Poland: A 45.5-meter deep diving pool with artificial underwater caves and Mayan ruins opened this weekend near Warsaw.

Named Deepspot, the complex includes a small wreck for free divers for scuba and exploration.

It has 8,000 cubic meters of water – more than 20 times the amount in a typical 25-meter pool.

Unlike regular swimming pools, Deepspot can open despite the COVID-19 ban in Poland as it is a training center that offers courses.

A hotel with rooms, from which guests will be able to see divers at a depth of 5m.

“It’s the smallest pool in the world,” Dippot director Mikal Brzezinski, a 47-year-old diving enthusiast, told AFP at the opening on Saturday.

The current holder of the Guinness World Record is in the Montegrotto term of Italy and it is m૨m.

The Blue Abyss Pool, planned to open in Britain in 2021, will be 50 meters long.

Dozens of clients came on the first day, including eight experienced divers who hoped to pass the exam to become instructors.

“There are no magnificent fish or coral reefs here so it’s not an option for the ocean but it’s definitely a good place to learn and train to dive safely in the open water,” said Prismislav Kakprazk, 39. Diving instructor.

“And it’s fun! It’s like kindergarten for divers!”

“My first time, we went down to the 5th but you can see all the way to the bottom – the wreckage, the caves – it’s magnificent!”

“The pool will also be used by the fire brigade and the army. There are many scenarios for training and we can also test different devices,” Brazzensky said.

About 5,000 cubic meters of concrete was used in the two years to build the pool and cost about 40 million zlotys (US $ 10.6 million).
