Swiss curlers in the all-around skip Silvana Tirinzoni end the round robin of the European Championships in Ostersund after false starts with losses against Germany (7:10) and Italy (3:9). With a 6:3 win record, they still advanced to the semifinals as third.

In their semifinal on Thursday afternoon, Briar Schwaler, Carol Howald, Silvana Tirinzoni and Alina Patz will once again play against skip Stefania Constantini’s Italian team. A surge in performances after two losses will require quick revenge if the Swiss wants to go home with a medal.

On the other hand, the Swiss curlers pulled off a crucial win in their eighth appearance. With a 7:2 win over Scotland, the quartet, who had already qualified, kept their chance of finishing second after their 7th win. This would give him the indisputable advantage of the last stone in the first end of the semi-final.

Pablo Lachat, Sven Michel, Yannick Schwaler and Benoît Schwarz from CC Geneva ensured success against the European champion around skip Bruce Maut with a two-man house in the 5th and a three-man house in the 7th end. After that, the Scots gave up.

In the final round-robin game, the Swiss take on Germany on Wednesday, with direct rivals Scotland dueling with leaders Italy in advance.
