Affiliates, who manage over 90% of all McDonald’s worldwide, will have to pay for their supplies, said the document.
Even the playbook explains how to keep restaurants clean and make sure customers see efforts. Explain how to keep customers six feet away from each other and enforce the use of some personal protective equipment.
The instruction manual outlines the ways in which restaurant operators can separate customers: they have to close some tables and seating areas and use floor stickers to outline “clearly recognizable paths” that will keep customers one meter apart while waiting in line. The stickers should also help keep people six feet away from the tables. Restaurants must also keep PlayPlaces closed and disable all interactive games.
Self-service bars will also have to close.
This is both on the recommendation of an epidemiologist, and because of how self-service bars can make customers feel.
“Brand perception is another concern,” notes the guide, “and how this could / could playing in customers’ minds due to heightened perceptions of hygiene and safety when they see other customers not taking precautions. ”
Instead, employees must pour drinks for customers, preferably using fountains usually intended for drive-thru.
The guide also requires the use of personal protective equipment for employees.
Workers must wear face masks or face liners and all employees who handle food or services must wear gloves.
Customers are not required to wear masks, but masks should be available on request in the municipalities where face coatings are required. The protection panels must be installed on drive-thru windows and counters where orders are placed.
The playbook also provides guidelines for employees on how to talk to people who may be wondering why McDonald’s is opening its dining rooms.
The workers can say, “We are all together and this team has come together in so many incredible ways in the past few months.” If someone refuses social distance, they can try “I apologize for any inconvenience, but to help protect everyone, we would like all of our guests to maintain a safe distance of 6 feet from each other and from our staff.” McDonald’s strongly recommends that workers use a “thumbs-up” to check in with customers who eat at the tables.
