In Scotland, menstrual items will be available free of charge in the future. The Edinburgh Parliament last night unanimously passed a bill from Labor MP Monica Lennon. Accordingly, the Scottish Government should establish a nationwide program for the provision of pads and tampons.
“We all agree that no one should worry about where the next tampons are coming from,” Lennon said before the vote.
Schools and universities are now required to offer menstruation for free in the toilet. Other public institutions may also be motivated to do so by the government in the future. Prime Minister Nicola Sturgeon tweeted, “I am proud to vote based on the law that Scotland will become the first country in the world to provide free menstrual products to those in need.”

The PA news agency quoted MP Lennon as saying it was a “practical and progressive” bill, all the more important because of the Corona epidemic. “Periods do not stop due to epidemics, and working to improve access to essential tampons, pads and reusable products has never been more important.”
In Great Britain, Scotland is considered a pioneer in the fight against poverty, particularly the so-called period. Many have little money for such items and resort to old newspapers, cloth towels and toilet paper. Many schools and universities are already providing pads and tampons there.
