MADRID: Manuel Pellegrini’s good run in the Spanish league has come to an end with Real Betis.

Betis conceded defeat to Real Madrid with a 3-0 win over Getafe on Tuesday, missing out on a chance to stay on top of the situation. Betis started with two straight wins under Pellegrini, the former Madrid and Manchester City manager.

Getafe topped with their second win in three matches. Vale Lancia, who beat Real Sociedad 1-0 on Tuesday, tied for a seven-point lead with Getafe, but have played more games.

Betis’ loss came as Pellegrini faced a possible ban for complaining about the referee after Madrid’s loss, when he missed a half-time lead and accepted a late penalty kick.

This time, Betis trailed 3-0 by a break and could not return to the match.

Nigel Rodriguez scored for the hosts in the 13th and 42nd minutes, with Mark Cucurella doubling the lead in the 39th month.

Getafe’s league opener against Madrid was postponed due to Madrid’s participation in the Champions League.

Madrid go on to win for the second time in a row when they host the Winless Vladladolid on Wednesday, with Eden Hazard likely entering his season after recovering from an injury.

After Luis Suarez impressed the bench in Sunday’s 6-1 win over Granada, Atletico could make their first start for Madrid, four days after joining Barcelona. Atletico will visit the encouraging Husqvarna, which is modest without returning to the first division.
