The Scottish ruling party politician Angus Robertson took the Queen’s Oath in English, speaking it in German for the second time.
A newly elected MP took the oath of office in the Scottish Parliament – in German. “I, Angus Robertson, solemnly and solemnly swear to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, her successors and heirs, to be loyal and faithful,” a politician from the ruling party SNP took the oath in Edinburgh on Thursday. According to several media reports, he spoke an unmistakable Viennese dialect. Robertson had previously taken the oath in English. The MP speaks fluent German as his mother is from Germany.
Robertson won the electoral district of Edinburgh Central in the Scottish capital as a direct candidate in the vote on 6 May. Prior to this, he was the leader of the Scottish National Party (SNP) parliamentary group and BBC correspondent in the UK Parliament. Edinburgh Central is home to a particularly large number of EU citizens who have the right to vote in Scotland. The SNP advocates independence from the United Kingdom and a return to the European Union. It got the most votes so far in the election, but missed out on an absolute majority.
